Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing, is a big deal in Japan. After a long, cold winter the sight of cherry blossom or sakura in all its (fleeting) beauty is something that brings people out in droves. Hanami is a traditional Japanese custom and we were lucky to be in Tokyo just when the sakura was in bloom.
The river along Naka-Meguro was a particularly nice vantage point and great for people-watching. Everywhere we went we bumped into people jostling for the best spot for selfies, and enjoying little champagne flutes of pink sparkling wine.
